Temple Ahavat Shalom Sisterhood is a woman’s organization which strives to help women bond together, learn from one another, and share experiences that enable themselves and their families to grow and lead more fulfilling Jewish lives.

Its membership is made up of a diverse group of women of varied ages, education, and religious observance who share a common goal; making Temple Ahavat Shalom a better place. Sisterhood is a community in which all women connect.

The primary objective of our Temple Sisterhood is to provide an agenda of education and social networking activities that meet the needs of the women of the congregation. We achieve this by undertaking specific projects to enhance and enrich the life of the congregation. These projects include but are not limited to: maintaining the Judaica Shop; providing gifts for Bar/Bat Mitzvah students and Confirmation students; operating a Rummage Sale; Women’s Purim Dinner and program, and ongoing fundraising projects that benefit the congregation, including the Youth Scholarship Fund.

Our Sisterhood celebrates the camaraderie of women in many ways. We annually hold a Purim event, Sisterhood Shabbat and our Shop Til U Drop Chanukah Fest. Our calendar is full throughout the year with educational events as well as fundraising projects that directly benefit the temple. Sisterhood participates actively in our congregation's annual Mitzvah Day. Sisterhood also sponsors several social events throught out the year for the entire congregation.

Our Sisterhood is affiliated with the women of Reform Judaism Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, which is a legal affiliate of the Union of American Hebrew congregations. It is the largest single contributor to the Youth Dept. Budget of UAHC (including SFTY and Camp Coleman). It serves as the women’s fundraising agency for the Hebrew Union College and rabbinical students. It also serves and supports the Jewish Braille Institute of America.

It is our goal to have every woman become a sister in our Sisterhood and experience the warmth, joy and friendship we share.
