Issues the JCRC Focuses On
Antisemitism and anti-Jewish hatred
The JCRC of Florida’s Gulf Coast is laser focused on combatting antisemitism and anti-Jewish hatred. It led the way for the City of Clearwater to pass the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism, and created the antisemitism rapid response task force. The work of PRIMER (Promoting Responsibility in Middle East Reporting) is being carried on as an integral part of our JCRC
Social Action & Public Policy
The JCRC’s Interfaith Initiative reaches out to the general community to build understanding and cooperation between religious, racial and ethnic groups. Through its activities, the JCRC works to serve as a voice and advocate for the Florida Gulf Coast’s Jewish community’s commitment to intergroup harmony, social justice and adequate health and human services.
International Issues
For JCRCs and the organized American Jewish community, the security and survival of Israel, as well as the strength of the relationship between the United States and Israel, are of the utmost importance.
In addition, we are deeply concerned and involved in efforts responding to the needs of other Jewish communities around the world that are in difficulty or danger. Over the years, JCRCs and national Jewish agencies have exercised a leadership role in securing freedom for Jews in the Soviet Union, Ethiopia and Syria. We are concerned about Jewish communities in Europe, South America, Asia and wherever there are Jews who are in need of support and assistance.
